Council seeks employers' views on engineering qualifications

The Engineering Council is inviting employers to take part in a survey to ascertain the extent of awareness and perception of professional engineering qualifications, in particular IEng.

According to a statement, previous Engineering Council research has shown that a large number of eligible practising engineers, particularly at IEng level, could be missing out on the benefits of holding a professional qualification that recognises their knowledge and skills.

This means that their employers are also missing out on the benefits, such as assurance that the employee has satisfied a rigorous assessment of their competence; evidence of the employee’s commitment to the profession; and increased technical credibility with customers.

HR professionals and employers of engineers can click here to take part in the survey, which reportedly takes no more than 5–6 minutes to complete.

The deadline for responding is Friday 7 October and all responses will remain anonymous.
