Daewoo buys Aker drilling riser system
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) has awarded Aker Solutions a contract worth $34m for a deepwater marine drilling riser.

(DSME) has awarded
a contract worth $34m for a deepwater marine drilling riser.
The contract covers the delivery of a complete drilling riser system for a drillship with buoyancy package and associated equipment for a drillship that DSME is currently building.
The system will be manufactured and delivered from Aker Solutions’ high-tech manufacturing centre in Malaysia, while Aker’s subsidiary, Phoenix Polymers International, will manufacture the buoyancy modules.
Delivery of the drilling riser systems is scheduled for 2010.
