Dreamy order for Boeing

CIT Aerospace, a business division of CIT Group, has ordered five Boeing 787 Dreamliners worth $810m at list prices.

The latest order takes the number of CIT-owned 787s to 10. CIT also has an unfilled order for an additional 10 Boeing Next-Generation 737s to add to their stock of 31 Next-Generation aircrafts.

‘There continues to be high market demand for twin-aisle, more fuel-efficient aircraft,’ said C Jeffrey Knittel, president of CIT Transportation Finance.

According to Boeing, the 787 Dreamliner uses 20 per cent less fuel per passenger than other aircraft of a similar size, has lower emission levels and quieter take-offs and landings.

It says that passengers will also find a new interior environment, with cleaner air, larger windows, more storage space and improved lighting.

The 787 Dreamliner is scheduled to enter service next year.
