An Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) apprentice is taking his skills state side and to Japan.

Stuart Greer, 20 from Ulceby in Lincolnshire, works for Doosan Babcock in Tipton and has just won the UK Skillweld competition. As recognition of this achievement, Stuart has been selected to represent the UK at the 2007 World Skills competition in Japan. Stuart will also be given the opportunity to represent the UK at an open welding competition in the United States in June. The ECITB is supporting Stuart in order to send him to the event and highlight the skills required to work within the engineering and construction industry.

Skillweld recognises high standards in welding and Stuart has proven his abilities to be second to none. The World Skills competition takes place in Shizuoka, Japan, in November of this year. It is an event run to showcase talent in forty skill sets including welding.
