Entries wanted for FISITA student competitions

FISITA, the international automotive engineering body, is inviting applications for two exciting student competitions taking place this year.

Its Islands of Excellence programme will see entrants competing for five exhibition places at this year’s biennial FISITA World Automotive Congress, taking place in Busan, South Korea. Academic institutions must put forward innovative automotive technology projects that address one or more of the Congress topics for 2016.

Projects can be undertaken by individual universities, two or more institutions working together, or by a university in collaboration with a commercial company. A panel of judges will award an “Island of Excellence” at the show to each of the five winners, where the students will be able to demonstrate their projects to the Congress attendees. The deadline for entries is January 29th and further information can be found here.

Students have a little more time to get organised for the second competition, with applications for the EuroBrake Student Innovation Competition only opening on January 22nd. Taking place at the Eurobrake 2016 conference in Milan this June, the competition will challenge students to "Consider the implications for vehicle braking systems with regards to autonomous driving". Students can register their interest in the competition here.
