Ericsson upgrades Armenia's phones

Ericsson has been chosen as supplier and systems integrator for an IP multimedia subsystem by ArmenTel, VimpelCom’s operator in Armenia. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Under the agreement ArmenTel’s existing fixed network will be transformed into an IMS-based, fixed and mobile convergent network, offering IP telephony and multimedia services to consumers and business customers.

IMS-based services allow communication through voice, text, pictures and video and also provide the flexibility to support broadband services.

‘Ericsson IMS offers an attractive user experience by enabling telecom operators to combine today’s and tomorrow’s applications in an integrated service offering.’ said Zoran Lukovic, vice president of Ericsson Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
