Flexicon achieves industry first with FPAX range

Leading flexible conduit manufacturer, Flexicon, has proved itself an industry leader yet again, with the news that its popular FPAX range of nylon-moulded conduit fittings has achieved the ingress protection rating IP69K - proving resistance to high pressure water or steam jets. This is a first in the flexible conduit industry, setting a high benchmark for other manufacturers.

The assessments, carried out by MIRA (Motor Industry Research Association), test a product's resistance to water at high pressure, high temperature and low volume. The tests are an official requirement of the automotive industry for any cabling exposed to high pressure water or steam jet washing, but also qualify products to be used in similar applications across diverse industries such as rail or food processing.

Flexicon's FPAX fittings have already been successfully tested to ingress protection standards IP66 (protection against dust and high pressure water jets), IP67 (protection against dust and water immersion - up to one metre) and IP68 (protection against dust and long periods of water immersion - two bar pressure for two hours) according to IEC EN 60529.
