Grant enables Rettenmaier to expand pellet production

The expansion of the facility, which manufactures the Viatop pellet, is part of a £2.3m investment made by the company to improve premises at Crown Farm Business Park in Forest Town and purchase various plant and machinery.

Viatop pellets are used as a stabilising additive for stone mastic asphalt, which forms a thin wearing course used in road construction. The project will create 15 jobs.

The company is part of the JRS Group, a multinational business based in Germany, which specialises in pulverising, fractionating and refinement processes.

Kevin Taylor, director of Rettenmaier UK Manufacturing, said: ’The JRS Group has been supplying pellets into the UK market since 1996 and decided that it was now commercially viable to manufacture them locally. We forecast substantial growth in demand for the pellets over the next few years. The production facility in Mansfield will allow us to meet this demand.’
