Indian wind turbine maker Suzlon Energy has signed two major new orders for its turbines in Australia.
India’s largest wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Energy Limited (SEL) has signed two major new orders for its turbines in Australia.
The contracts, representing over 200MW of wind-power capacity, were signed with Renewable Power Ventures and AGL Energy by Suzlon Energy Australia, the company’s Australian arm.
The first contract, from Sydney-based Renewable Power Ventures, calls for the delivery of 63 units of Suzlon's S88, 2.1MW wind turbine, which will provide 132MW of capacity.
The turbines will be deployed at a new wind farm, named Capital Wind Farm, which will be built in New South Wales approximately 50km north of Canberra. The contract includes full turnkey delivery including a 330kV electrical substation and power line works. It is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2009.
The second contract, a repeat contract from AGL Energy – one of Australia’s leading utilities - is for 34 units of the S88 turbine, which will deliver 71.4MW of capacity.
