JLR to create more than 1,100 new jobs at Castle Bromwich
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is to expand its workforce at its advanced manufacturing facility in Castle Bromwich to support the launch of new Jaguar models.
According to JLR, more than 1,100 new jobs are being created, and a recruitment campaign for production operators is being launched today.
Dr Ralf Speth, chief executive officer at JLR, said: ‘Innovation in design, engineering and technology is at the core of our business and for the UK, this means we will continue to invest in new products, develop new technologies and enhance the skills of our employees.’
The Castle Bromwich plant will this year manufacture the new 2013 Model Year XF and XJ ranges. The XF range will also see the addition of the XF Sportbrake derivative, which JLR claims will be the most versatile Jaguar ever built.
Welcoming today’s announcement, Robert Downes, policy adviser at the Forum of Private Business, said: ‘This is not only amazing news for Coventry, but for the wider region as a whole.
‘The whole automotive supply chain will benefit and that’s the best possible news small businesses in the manufacturing industry could get just as we hear more doom-and-gloom predictions about the parlous state of the UK economy.
