Last week's poll: Investing in infrastructure
The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) has today called on whichever party wins the general election to put infrastructure at the heart of long-term economic plans. Do you agree?

A clear majority of the 314 respondents to last week’s poll — 54 per cent — agreed that increasing infrastructure spending was necessary to drive the UK’s long-term economic growth and maintain competitiveness; however, 20 per cent thought that efforts shouls be targeted at specific infrastructure sectors, such as energy. A more pessimistic view — that infrastructure would always be a political football and that it was unrealistic to expect politicians to take a long-term view — was chosen by 16 per cent, while only 5 per cent thought the current government’s infrastructure plam was sufficiently ambitious.
