has announced it has recently invested more than $20m (£14m) to expand its lighting production facility at Sidoarjo (Surabaya), East Java.

The expansion will facilitate the manufacture of up to 13 million Philips Master TL5 lamps for global export annually.

Philips claims the TL5 lamp is the most energy-efficient lamp on the market.

‘This new investment comes on the back of last year’s expansion of our glass furnace facility, for which we allocated $10m,’ said PT Philips Indonesia president director, Robert Fletcher. ‘Both investments complement each other and allow us to be fully integrated in producing quality TL5 lamps to clearly set us apart from competition.’
