AD8655 is claimed to be the industry’s lowest noise precision amplifier designed for +2.7 V to +5 V operation, delivering up to two-thirds lower noise than competing solutions.
Prior to the AD8655, applications requiring low-noise performance had to use higher-priced bipolar amplifiers designed for higher-voltage applications or add discrete components that required more board space.
For applications operating from 2.7 to 5.5 volts, the AD8655 delivers a low noise of 2.7 nV/vHz at 10 kHz and a low distortion of 0.0008%, eliminating the need for external transistor stages or multiple parallel amplifiers to lower system level noise, and also improving the signal-to-noise ratio and resolution.
The low offset of 250 µV max over the full common-mode voltage range provides high DC accuracy without system trimming. The rail-to-rail input and output of the AD8655 suits it for driving ADCs and buffering DACs (digital-to-analog converters) in high accuracy systems.
Fully specified to operate over a temperature range of –40ºC to + 125ºC, the AD8655 also features a bandwidth of 28 MHz and offset voltage drift of 0.4 µV/ºC typical and 2.3 µV/ºC maximum.
The device is available now in 8-lead MSOP and 8-lead SOIC packaging and is priced at 70 cents per unit in 1,000-piece quantities.
