Recently introduced aluminium extrusions available from Machine Building Systems now offer even greater possibilities for users of Item's MB Building Kit System.
The popular Line-X range, which affords both a different "look" compared with the traditional Item profiles, and also reduces crevices and dirt-traps, has been expanded with four more variants of “N” profiles which feature fully enclosed grooves on one or more faces. These aesthetically pleasing plain-faced extrusions are particularly useful where ease of cleaning is important, since not only are the T-slots hidden, but like all Line-X profiles, feature tight corner radii resulting in a smooth transition between frame members.
Where required, it is possible to remove the cover from the groove using either a screwdriver or bespoke Item tools also available from Machine Building Systems. This leaves access to the T-slot nuts beneath, allowing fitting of additional components or frame fasteners.
It is expected that the new profiles will find use in clean room constructions, laboratory equipment, some food applications, and other applications where either ease of cleaning or appearance are important.
