Michell Expands Calibration Lab

Responding to the demand for their process analyzers, Michell Instruments has recently expanded their calibration laboratory for hydrocarbon dew-point and process moisture analyzers, doubling its capacity. They have also increased their team of engineers to help keep up with the global demand for process analyzers.

In the petrochemical industry, the measurement of moisture content in a multitude of process gases and liquids is one of the most difficult and demanding tasks for process engineering. To maintain a certain moisture content or to avoid defined moisture levels is crucial for a large number of chemical processes. Michell’s state-of-the-art, on-line analyzers help to increase plant efficiency and safety in many petrochemical sites across the globe – as well as saving companies millions of dollars in maintenance and down-time each year.

Using the ‘dark spot’ principle, developed in conjunction with Shell, the Condumax II hydrocarbon dew-point analyzer is used to ensure natural gas quality at pipeline custody transfer, prevent gas turbine burner failure and prolong the life of process equipment. Although the technology was developed over 25 years ago, Michell’s commitment to continuous improvement means that the Condumax II is a world-wide success story, and is installed in around 80 percent of natural gas pipelines across central and southern Europe.
