Rolls-Royce has signed a 10-year agreement worth $400m with US group Bell Helicopter for the supply of Model 250 engines.

The deal covers the delivery of engines for Bell 206 and 407 helicopters through 2017.

Rolls-Royce and Bell Helicopter initiated their relationship in 1961. Since then, Rolls Royce has delivered more than 18,000 Model 250 engines for use on Bell’s single and twin helicopters.

Ken Roberts, president of Rolls-Royce Helicopter Engines, said: ‘Bell and Rolls-Royce have worked together to keep Model 250-powered aircraft at the forefront of the helicopter industry through continued investment and the introduction of new technology. This new ten-year agreement is a commitment to build upon that valued and successful partnership.’

The contract was announced on 22 February and coincided with the company's positive market forecast for rotorcraft, which predicts the delivery of 15,000 helicopters over the next 10 years.
