More machine guns for US Army

General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products has been awarded a $26m contract from US Army Tank Automotive Command for the production of M2HB machine guns.

Deliveries on the contract will begin in April 2008.

According to General Dynamics, the M2HB crew-served 12.7mm machine gun fires at a rate of more than 450 rounds per minute and has a maximum effective range of 2,000 yards.

Production work will be performed at General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products' Saco, Maine, facility, which has manufactured the M2 Machine Gun since 1979. Program management will take place at the company's Burlington, Vermont, facility.
