Bombardier Transportation has received a $29 million order from the Utah Transit Authority in the United States for the supply of 12 Bombardier BiLevel commuter trains.

for the supply of 12 Bombardier BiLevel commuter rail vehicles. The contract includes an option for up to 23 additional cars.

Valued at approximately $29 million, the contract calls for the design, manufacture and delivery of the new commuter vehicles.

The new cars will be used to provide service between North Weber County and Salt Lake City, Utah in its first phase. Future phases will extend commuter rail 120 miles from Brigham City in the north to Payson in the south.

“The BiLevel car continues to be the most popular multi-level commuter rail car in North America with more than 750 BiLevel cars in operation with 11 public transit authorities across Canada and the United States,” said William Spurr, President, Bombardier Transportation, North America.
