The push for net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 is the defining challenge of the times. Whilst all sectors have a role to play, manufacturing will be at the heart of delivering this transition, through both the production and development of new and emerging technology and through the deployment of low carbon solutions and processes within its own operations.
In this online panel session - first in a series of three held in partnership with the High Value Manufacturing Catapult - The Engineer brought together a panel of experts from across the UK manufacturing landscape to highlight and champion the role that manufacturers are playing in the push for net zero; examine some of the opportunities created; explore some of the challenges that manufacturers face as they decarbonise their own operations; and – through best practice examples – consider some of the solutions to these challenges.
Featuring:
- Dr Katy Milne, Chief Engineer at the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult
- Gareth Williams, Director of Strategic Development at the HVMC
- Rachel Everard - Head of Sustainability, Rolls-Royce Plc
- Ben Horn - Digital Transformation Director, Crystal Doors
