Light Blue Optics says it employs its PVPro technology to make compact projectors with low power consumption, robustness and ease-of-use for portable applications. Future products will range from pocket-sized miniature projector accessories for iPods, phones, and other mobile devices, to a wide array of consumer electronics products with integrated projection capabilities.
The research and development funding is part of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) scheme, and grants were awarded by the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) to some of the region’s most innovative and ideas-driven companies.
In February 2006, Light Blue Optics announced a matchbox-size ‘micro-mini’ monochrome projector. The EEDA award will help contribute to the next generation of this unit, which will use three miniature lasers to display full colour video images. The company says it is also expanding its development team to help meet increased levels of customer demand.
