In a recent column for The Engineer Dr Hilary Leevers, CEO of industry body EngineeringUK calls on engineers to seriously consider a move to the classroom to help address a critical shortage of STEM teachers. In this week’s poll we’re asking a simple question: would you or wouldn’t you consider a move into classroom?
As always, as well as casting your vote, do please expand on your views in the comments box at the bottom of this page and let us know your thoughts on Dr Leevers’ proposal. Perhaps you have some ideas on how industry or government could incentivise engineers to make the jump into the classroom? Perhaps you’ve already made this leap and have some practical advice for your industrial peers? Or perhaps you believe the financial shock of a move into a famously undervalued profession is simply untenable. Whatever your view on this topic, we look forward to hearing from you.
