Fatronik has put the finishing touches to a portable climbing robot it has developed to help assemble the fuselage and wings of an aeroplane.
The light, portable climbing robot is capable of working autonomously on the plane's structure.
It supports its own weight by means of suction pads.
In operation, it moves over the superstructure of the aircraft, adapting itself to the curvature of the fuselage and carrying out precision drilling tasks for subsequent riveting and assembly at a rate of 8 holes a minute.
The robotic platform, patented by Fatronik, can be easily adapted to and used in other industrial sectors, such as in shipbuilding and cleaning buildings.
