Rolls-Royce wins $200m engine order

The Rolls-Royce Trent 700 has won its first order for the recently launched Airbus A330-200 freighter through Guggenheim Aviation Partners (GAP), a subsidiary of Guggenheim Partners.
GAP has selected the engine for up to six aircraft in a deal worth around $200m to Rolls-Royce at list prices. Deliveries to the US-based cargo leasing specialist will start in 2010.
GAP customers will also be offered a Rolls-Royce TotalCare service package, under which Rolls-Royce takes full responsibility for engine maintenance.

According to Rolls-Royce, the
700 is the only engine on the A330 that has been specifically designed for the aircraft, resulting in better performance, reliability and maintenance costs. It is the market leader on the A330 with a 42 per cent share of orders and 35 customers and operators.
