The Society of British Aerospace Companies

(SBAC) has signed an agreement with the US

Supplier Excellence Alliance

(SEA) for co-ordination and collaboration in the aerospace and defence industries.

The aims of the agreement include the adoption of an international framework for categorisation and assessment of supply chain continuous improvement processes; the adoption of an international framework for a relationship code of practice; and the development of common criteria for suppliers to minimise developmental visits and redundant audits.

‘This agreement will help to create stronger links between the supply chains operating on both sides of the Atlantic and help companies meet the increasing challenges of global competition,’ said Ian Godden, SBAC chief executive. ‘Common approaches and criteria adopted in the UK and US will make life a lot easier for all companies working in these important markets.’

The agreement will mean SBAC and SEA will work together to promote continuous improvement and global competitiveness.

SEA is a not-for-profit organisation which aims to improve supply chain performance in aerospace, defence and space contractors and suppliers. Companies represented by SEA include BAE Systems, Boeing and Lockheed Martin.
