Alstom has recently been awarded a $13 million contract by the US Bureau of Reclamation to refurbish two 142 MVA generators at the SHASTA hydroelectric power plant in northern
The scope of work on the generator units Number 1 and 2 calls for new windings, new stator cores, new thrust bearings, new exciters and the re-insulation of the existing pole coils.
Unit 1 is scheduled to be completed by September 2007 while work on unit 2 will be finished by September 2008.
The US Bureau of Reclamation is a long-standing client of Alstom. Claude Lambert, managing director of the North American unit, commented "we did similar work on the other three units at SHASTA back in 1998, 1999 and 2000. We are happy to be selected again to provide the products and services needed."
