Électricité de France International(EDFI) has awarded
Siemens Power Generation(PG) a turnkey contract to build a combined cycle power plant in the Netherlands.
The joint venture will operate the Sloecentrale plant, which is scheduled to start operation in the spring of 2009 in Vlissingen-Oost. The total contract including a long-term maintenance agreement is valued at approximately €550m.
The Sloecentrale power plant will be the first turnkey plant to be built by Siemens PG since deregulation of the Dutch energy market in 2000. It is to be built as a greenfield facility in the southwestern part of the Netherlands in the province of Zeeland. With an installed capacity of approximately 870MW, the gas-fired plant will produce enough power for more than two million households.
The Siemens PG scope of supply will encompass two gas turbines, two steam turbines, two generators, and the entire electrical and I&C equipment. The company will also handle plant maintenance for a period of about 15 years.
