Smiths Aerospace has been awarded a contract worth a potential $20 million per year through to 2012, for engine components on the Trent 1000 engine for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Smiths will be providing various rotating and non-rotating engine components produced from forgings and flash-welded rings. The components include thin wall aero-engine parts such as retaining rings, front panels and sub-assemblies.
