Bombardier Transportation has received an additional order for 67 AGC type (Autorail Grande Capacité) high-capacity trains from the French National Railways (SNCF).
The SNCF represents the French Regions in this transaction, which is valued at about €311m. The total number of firmly ordered AGC trains is now 679. Deliveries of these trains are scheduled to begin in August 2009.
The SNCF signed an initial contract, on December 13, 2001, for the supply of 500 AGC trains. Under that contract, an amendment was agreed last November for the supply of up to 200 additional trains and an increased pace of delivery. At the time, 112 trains were ordered and today, the SNCF confirmed their order for another 67.
Twenty-one French regions have ordered AGC trains to date.
The AGC, manufactured at the Bombardier Crespin plant in northern France, is available in various versions. The trains can run on diesel fuel, electricity or a combination of the two, and also on a dual mode/dual voltage (diesel fuel and electricity 1.5 kV and 25 kV). Today’s new order from the SNCF includes dual mode/dual voltage trains.
