UK and Ireland.

Slieve Divena Phase II, which was granted planning consent in 2007, will be an eight turbine, 20MW extension to SSE's existing 30MW Slieve Divena wind farm.

The number of SSE onshore wind farms in operation, construction or with consent for development in Eire and Northern Ireland has now reached more than 600MW power capacity.

‘I am very pleased that we have been able to add the Slieve Divena Phase II project to our growing wind energy portfolio,’ said Ian Marchant, chief executive of SSE. ‘It is another step towards our target of 4,000MW of operating renewable energy capacity in the UK and Ireland by 2013 and another illustration of the opportunities flowing from our acquisition last year of Airtricity.’
