Boeing’s Team TSAT has demonstrated that its Transformational Satellite Communications System Space Segment (TSAT) platform can function in simulated operational environments.
In the tests, the TSAT hardware and software capabilities achieved Technology Readiness Level-6 (TRL-6), which means that it is now ready to move into production.
‘Reaching TRL-6 is the culmination of TEAM TSAT's three-year effort and validates Boeing's extensive risk reduction efforts,’ said Howard Chambers, vice president and general manager of Boeing Space and Intelligence Systems.
Critical components in the system that reached TRL-6 or greater included the laser communications system’s telescope, optical bench and communications electronics, the antenna hardware, the bandwidth allocation and protected waveform technologies.
Boeing’s Team TSAT includes Cisco Systems, IBM, Harris, Raytheon, and General Dynamics.
