Terminal power

ABB has been awarded $77m for the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of electrical products and systems for the new Terminal 3 building at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.

ABB will provide electrical infrastructure and control systems for T3, which is currently under construction. ABB’s supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, an intelligent power distribution management solution, will be used to monitor and control the terminal’s entire electrical network.

ABB’s order includes 11kV panels, a distribution transformer, low-voltage panels, cabling, wiring, conduits, light fixtures, bus ducts and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), for auxiliary power if primary power is lost.

Delhi airport’s new terminal will cover an area of 520,000m2 with capacity to handle 25 million passengers and is scheduled to be operational by March 2010.
