Rolls-Royce

has been awarded a contract for three industrial RB211 gas turbine compression packages by the Petroleum Authority of Thailand (PTT), in addition to the five packages announced in late 2005.

They are for use on a PTT riser platform in a new offshore development in the Gulf of Thailand as part of Thailand’s gas pipeline master plan designed to increase the supply of natural gas to the Eastern region of the country.

The three RB211-6562 gas turbine units will each drive Dresser-Rand Datum gas compressors installed on the top deck of the riser platform, which is currently installed in the Gulf of Thailand. The compression facilities will be phased in to match the demand for gas, with the units becoming operational in 2008.

The three new packages will be assembled at Rolls-Royce facilities in Mount Vernon, Ohio, and are scheduled for customer delivery in the 1st and 2nd quarters of 2007.
