According to Thales, the UAV systems will provide an urgently needed intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) capability for
The contract includes the provision of Hermes 450 UAV systems, as well as training of the UK MoD staff in the use and maintenance of the system, and the provision of contractor logistic support (CLS) and programme management services.
This work will be managed from the U-TacS facility in
Wing Commander Ian Gale from the ISTAR Equipment Capability Directorate of the UK MoD said: ‘This UAV system augments our current capability and will significantly increase the intelligence available for those members of our armed forces currently on deployment around the world.’
