Talgohave been awarded a 14-year contract with
RENFE, Spain’s national rail operator for the maintenance of 45 AVE S-130 high-speed trains.
Bombardier Transportation’s share in the contract is valued at approximately €128m (£101m).
Maintenance work will be carried out until 2022 at RENFE depots in Santa Catalina and Fuencarral, which are located in Madrid.
The AVE S-130 trains are designed to reach a maximum speed of 250km/h and are equipped with technology systems that include a dual-voltage propulsion system, a highly advanced on-board signalling system and variable-gauge bogies which enable RENFE to operate the trains on Spain’s high-speed and conventional lines.
Bombardier believes the maintenance contract will help consolidate its position in the comprehensive high-speed rail programme being implemented in Spain, which is said to be one of the most advanced in the world.
