Tunnel contract for COE’s codecs

COE Group, a developer and supplier of advanced video systems, has been selected by Italy’s Distelco, for the supply of high-resolution video codecs for the Martignano Tunnel project.

The COE X-Net G3 MPEG4 codecs form the core of the video encoding and transmission system and will make up part of the overall safety system, which also incorporates Citilog's MediaTunnel automatic incident detection across 26 of the 43 cameras located within the tunnel.

The project is part of a €76m project financed by the Provincia Automoma di Trento. The tunnel is a twin tube design, each 3km long, and is part of the strategic road link for the Trentino region.

‘The choice of codec was critical for this project as we required very high-resolution images for the Incident Detection System. The COE X-Net G3 exceeded our specifications and also met the environmental challenges posed by such a project,’ commented Enzo Masini, sales manager for Distelco.
