Video amplifiers

Texas Instruments has introduced three integrated high-performance video amplifiers.

The new three-channel devices are claimed to be the first to offer full I2C programmability of all functions independently for each channel, which provides the designer the flexibility to configure a video system as required or on-the-fly, without the need for hardware upgrades or modifications.

The devices are designed with integrated Butterworth filters to provide all the analog signal conditioning required in video applications such as set-top boxes, digital televisions, personal video recorders/DVD readers and portable USB devices.

The THS7303, THS7313 and THS7353 feature 2.7 V to 5 V single-supply operation and are as much as 20x lower power than competing amplifiers, according to TI. For example, total quiescent current at 3.3 V for the THS7353 is 16.2 mA and total power is 54 mW.

The THS7303 and THS7313 are video line driver output devices configured in a gain of 6 dB with SAG correction, and they are capable of driving up to two doubly-terminated 75 ohms video lines.
