Video of the week: Thyssenkrupp takes sideways look at elevators
This week’s video comes from Germany where Thyssenkrupp is working on an elevator that transports people horizontally as well as vertically.

The Multi concept replaces ropes with linear motors that were developed for another German innovation, the magnetic levitation Transrapid train.
According to Thyssenkrupp, a Multi system will allow multiple cabins to travel safely up one shaft and down another in a single continuous loop.
The first Multi will be installed at OVG Real Estate’s new East Side Tower in Berlin.
