Wind farm appeal

E.ON has announced it will appeal East Riding Council's decision to refuse consent for its Tedder Hill wind farm near Roos, Yorkshire.

, one of the

's leading power and gas companies, is to appeal East Riding Council's decision to refuse consent for its Tedder Hill wind farm near Roos,

.

The initial planning application for a 6.9MW, three-turbine wind farm was made in May 2006 and rejected in August 2008 following a tie-break decision in which the council chairman cast the deciding vote.

‘We firmly believe that Tedder Hill is an ideal location for a wind farm,’ said Jonn Barnes, project developer for E.ON in the UK. ‘We have undertaken a number of independent reviews into our application and still believe that this site offers an excellent opportunity to develop a wind farm, ensuring minimal disruption to the local landscape and community within the Roos area.’

E.ON, which has 1,300MW of renewable capacity under development, claims the site could provide enough power for up to 3,800 homes and displace 7,790 tonnes of CO2 annually.
