Amongst several new products introduced by Techni Measure from the MicroStrain range, are their wireless sensors. The V-Link â is at the top of the range, offering up to 8 channels in each wireless node to operate as part of a high-speed wireless sensor network.

These devices, as the name implies, provide a wireless link between the connected sensors and a base station, which can be up to 70meters away. Featuring 2 kHz sweep rates, combined with 2 Mbytes flash memory, these little nodes have on board sensor excitation, bridge completion, and programmable gains and offsets. Differential and single ended inputs provide an extremely versatile sensor interface. The V-Linkâ is therefore compatible with a wide range of analogue sensors, including strain gauges, displacement sensors, load cells, torque transducers, pressure sensors, accelerometers, temperature sensors, inclinometers and others. The bi-directional RF communications link, in the 2.4GHz range, can trigger a sample to be logged, or request real time data to be transmitted to the host PC for data acquisition and analysis. Typical applications include condition monitoring of machines, structures or vehicles, and for sports performance monitoring or robotics and machine automation.
