AMETEK Land Collaborates with Advanced Forming Research Centre To Drive Forward Innovation In Temperature Measurement

AMETEK Land has recently renewed its tier two membership with the University of Strathclyde’s Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC), for a further four years.

A member of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, the AFRC helps fill the gap between fundamental academic research and industry. It helps turn innovative manufacturing and advanced engineering technologies into commercial reality and works with industry to develop solutions that bring about real business benefits for manufacturing companies of all sizes across the United Kingdom and internationally.

AMETEK Land originally joined the Renfrewshire-based centre in 2011.  With this renewal, it is the fourth time the company has renewed its membership in the centre, whose aims are to support UK manufacturing businesses increase their competitiveness through a structured approach to innovation.   The AFRC seeks to de-risk and accelerate the introduction of new technologies, materials and processes and help UK manufacturers to become even more innovative.

“Tier two membership of the AFRC provides us with a great opportunity to work with the UK’s leading manufacturers and foremost researchers on industrial process improvement,” comments Christopher Leonard, Director of Development and Product Management at AMETEK Land. “AMETEK Land provides equipment advice to them on how to take advantage of our non-contact temperature measurement technology. This collaboration helps make their research, processing and production more efficient and effective.”

Membership includes representation on the AFRC’s technical board as well as opportunities to network with tier one members.  The objective is to develop close working relationships with other members and supply chain partners.

Boeing, Rolls Royce and TIMET are founding tier one members of the AFRC. Tier two members are supply chain partners who provide the centre with capability to support current and future research programmes.
