Essentra PLC, a leading manufacturer of industrial components, is fast-tracking the development of sustainable bioplastic alternatives through its Centre of Excellence in Kidlington, UK.
Since opening in early 2024, the facility has conducted 19 trials on 14 different materials, yielding 52 product samples and nine new SKUs.
One of the focus areas is the development of seaweed-based bioplastics in partnership with FlexSea, offering fully compostable, bio-based solutions. The Centre is also exploring bio-woods, PLA, and recycled nylons.
