Nanoindentation is often used for measurement of thin layers and small volumes of material. On such materials low indentation depth is required to obtain correct results. However, roughness of the measured surface can negatively affect the results.
In this application report we show the effect of surface roughness on the nanoindentation results and methods to minimize it.
