Gear shifting in vehicles with automatic transmissions is an important topic in the automotive powertrain industry, as evidenced by the sheer number of studies published over the past few decades. This paper uses MapleSim to explore the effects of the different parameters within the transmission system on gear shift quality. The first step is to create a fully-parameterised system model using components from the standard 1-D Mechanical Library and Maplesoft Driveline Library.
