Deadline approaching for Infiniti F1 academy

Infiniti’s Engineering Academy is returning for 2017, with another seven young engineers being given the chance to work with the Renault Formula One team.

Now in its fourth year, the competition brings one winner from each of seven regions (Asia & Oceania, Canada, China, Europe, Mexico, Middle East and the US) together for a 12-month placement. The lucky seven relocate to the UK for the year, where they work alongside the Renault team and Infiniti, one of the F1 outfit’s main sponsors. Applications for the 2017 Academy close on 20 May.

“We are very excited to offer seven engineering students from different regions the possibility to join this technically rich, multi-discipline and multi-cultural engineering placement once again,” said Tommaso Volpe, Infiniti Global Motorsport Director.

“With Formula One more relevant to the automotive industry than ever, and with the enhanced scope for collaboration and real technology transfer that the Renault-Nissan Alliance and our Technical Partnership with the team bring, the Infiniti Engineering Academy will provide an unmatched range of experiences and opportunities to the 2017 winners.”

Applicants will have to complete an online engineering puzzle test as part of a multi-stage recruitment process. A follow-up event this summer will see 10 finalists compete to secure their place in the Academy. According to Jaden Partridge, from northern New South Wales in Australia, it’s an opportunity that young engineers should embrace, regardless of their background.

“I was by no means ‘top of my class’ in any of my education, and I came from a regional area,” said Jaden, who was the Asia & Oceania winner from last year’s competition.

“If I made it here, then it goes to show where motivation and commitment can take you. If you share the passion to work in the pinnacle of automotive and motorsport engineering, and you are an individual seeking challenges, then you owe it to yourself to apply for the Infiniti Engineering Academy.”
