Manufacturers’ organisation EEF has announced a new programme called “Make Great”, which it hopes will help develop the next generation of leaders for industry.
The programme will focus on management and skills development, with a view to helping businesses recruit, retain and train personnel for the challenges of Industry 4.0. According to research carried out by EEF, the need to improve productivity has led to almost two thirds of manufacturers increasing demand for people management, with a similar proportion looking to bolster leadership skills.
“The fourth industrial revolution and the increased use of digital technology are going to present manufacturing businesses and their leaders with significant challenges,” said Caroline Gumble, chief operating officer for EEF.
“To meet these, companies need to make leadership development an embedded part of their business. By using bespoke and tailored consultancy and expertise, manufacturers can reap substantial benefits from increased productivity and employee-focused culture change.”
Make Great will provide companies with access to four key areas of expertise: retaining and recruiting talent; coaching and mentoring; people performance and skills management; and strategic change management and restructuring. The programme will also deliver qualifications and courses at all levels from the Institute for Leadership Management and Chartered Management.
