Marotta Controls

has been selected by Eaton Aerospace to design, develop, qualify and manufacture the Ground Maintenance Motor Pump (GMMP) Controller for the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. Marotta's controller will be used in each of the three variants of the Joint Strike Fighter.

The GMMP provides hydraulic power on the ground to actuate doors during maintenance mode. It also operates in emergency mode, providing backup hydraulics in the event of an engine failure.

Marotta's GMMP Controller uses motor speed and current feedback to precisely control pump speed under varying load and power conditions, monitors temperature and system health and has the ability to shut down the motor in the event of over-temperature or failure.

The motor is a 270 VDC, 6.3 kW, brushless motor that uses Hall sensors to provide motor rotational feedback to the controller.

"We have been working closely with Eaton and are delighted to be formally selected for this exciting program," said Michael Leahan, Vice President and Chief Sales Officer of Marotta. "This contract complements several other projects that Marotta has been awarded for motor controllers on the Joint Strike Fighter and other military aircraft.”
