Honda cuts UK production

The Japanese carmaker Honda has announced that it will cut UK production of its Civic compact due to falling demand.

Honda will reduce output of the three- and five-door models of the Civic by approximately 10 per cent in December. This follows earlier cutbacks to its US production of the Odyssey minivan and Pilot SUV.

Akemi Ando, a spokeswoman for Honda said that the Wiltshire factory’s 4,800 workers will not lose their jobs due to the cut in production.

Car manufacturer, Daimler has also planned cutbacks and will stop production at two German plants for four weeks at the end of this year.
