Royal DSM is to invest in a new plant for producing engineering plastics compounds in India.

Last month, Royal DSM, a supplier of nutritional and pharma ingredients, performance materials and industrial chemicals, announced that it is to invest in a new plant for producing engineering plastics compounds in India.

The new plant, which will be situated in the Ranjangaon MIDC industrial zone, about 60 km from Pune, will triple the capacity for the production of the company’s Akulon PA6, Arnite PBT and PET and Stanyl PA46 brands in India.

These materials are used in manufacturing moulded components for the automotive, electrical and electronics, consumer and industrial segments.

Earlier the same month, the company acquired Zurich-based Pamako from FMS Enterprises Migun. The acquisition included Pamako’s technology for the production of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene-based products.

DSM Engineering Plastics is a business group in DSM’s Performance Materials, with sales in 2006 of 1005 million Euros and approximately 1300 employees worldwide.
