Koenigsegg burns rubber in US

On display at the Geneva Motor Show, this exotic-looking creature is the CCX (Competition Coupe X), the latest in the Koenigsegg CC family.

Built to comply with US road vehicle regulations, the CCX has a top speed of 245+mph (395+km/h) and is capable of accelerating from 0-62mph (0 to 100km/h) in 3.2 seconds.

The CCX's power can be found in the Koenigsegg V8 cast aluminium engine. This retains the performance and power of the CCR engine, while running on US 91 octane fuel. To comply with Californian emissions regulations the company created new cylinder heads with a larger valve area and more optimally flowing cylinder head ports. Koenigsegg has also integrated smaller dual injectors per cylinder, new camshafts, a carbon fibre individual runner intake plenum, an engine management system, and an updated fuel and evaporative emission control system. The CCX has a returnless fuel system with pumps integrated into the new fuel tank.

Its body, created using Icem Surf CAD software, has a new scoop on the bonnet and air vents behind the front wheels.
