The DE 20 type six-axle locomotives are based on the Eurorunner platform developed by Siemens. The diesel engines are designed for a maximum speed of 120 km/h.

All the units ordered will be built at Siemens’ locomotive plant in Munich and delivered between June 2007 and spring 2009.

Locomotives based on the Eurorunner platform are already in operation for Austrian Federal Railways, Kowloon-Canton Railways in Hong Kong, Siemens Dispolok, as well as for a number of private rail operators in Germany and Austria.
